Frank J. Macchiarola is Group Director of Downstream and Industry Operations at the American Petroleum Institute (API). Mr. Macchiarola joined API in January 2016, where he leads association efforts on fuels, refining, marketing and downstream safety, security and technology. Prior to joining API, Mr. Macchiarola served as Executive Vice President of Government Affairs at America’s Natural Gas Alliance (ANGA). From 2004 to 2013, Mr. Macchiarola served in several senior staff positions in the United States Senate including Staff Director, Minority Staff Director, and Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and Minority Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Mr. Macchiarola was previously a partner in the policy resolution group at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP and he began his career as an associate in the litigation group of a New York City law firm. Mr. Macchiarola earned his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross and his J.D. from New York University School of Law.
