Bob Cochran

Bob Cochran serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Porter Gordon Silver (PGS) and started with the PGS team in January, 2013. Prior to joining PGS, Bob served for 20-years as Chief of Staff to Congressman Buck McKeon, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and previously spent 9-years as the District Director for Congressman Carlos Moorhead. In his capacity as Chief of Staff for Chairman McKeon, Bob was instrumental in running McKeon’s successful chairmanship campaigns for both the House Armed Services and House Education and Workforce Committees. As Chairman McKeon’s key advisor, Bob was active in key policy areas of national security and defense along with education and workforce issues. Additionally, Bob was pivotal in developing on behalf of the Chairman a mentoring program to assist other members of the committee and staff with their office operations and fundraising. During his 20-years on Capitol Hill, Bob established himself as a prolific fundraiser for McKeon and the national party committees. His network of national fundraising contacts provided a platform of donors that assisted campaigns of Members of Congress and candidates throughout the country. Bob brings to Porter Gordon Silver an expertise of how Capitol Hill functions with a broad array of contacts both on and off the Hill. His role as a congressional staffer in a leadership capacity gives Bob a unique understanding of how government works, providing a valuable resource to our clients. Currently, Bob has had success in representing clients on defense, education and workforce issues. Additionally, Bob represents the prestigious Ronald Reagan Library and Foundation based in Simi Valley, California both as a fundraiser and organizer of the “Reagan National Defense Forum.” Bob, a native Californian, was raised in Covina where he attended school in the Charter Oak Unified School District. In his senior year at Royal Oak High School, Bob was selected by the Chicago White Sox Organization for the 1975 Professional Baseball Draft, but chose instead to accept a baseball scholarship to attend California State University at Los Angeles. As a freshman, Bob was named “Rookie of the Year” for the West Coast Athletic Conference and played on the 1977 team that went to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. From 2000 to 2005, Bob served as President of the California State Society, which is a membership organization of transplanted Californians working or living in Washington, D.C. Additionally, Bob served from 1996 to 2003 as Chair of the California Republican Chiefs of Staff, coordinating the monthly meetings for the then 20-member staff delegation. Bob is married to the former Kellie Ann Going, a program specialist for Fairfax County School District, and they reside in Reston, Virginia.
