Carolyn A. Magnan, Esq., joined CCSU’s senior staff in January 2002. As Special Assistant to the President, she provides advice to President John W. Miller and other members of the University’s senior staff. During the past seven years she has served and continues to serve on the President’s Executive Committee, the university’s Facilities Planning Committee, its Critical Incident Team and its Threat Assessment Team. Recently, she chaired the President’s Taskforce on Journalistic Integrity and staffed the President’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity. A native of Jamaica, Ms. Magnan came to the United States to attend Blackburn College in Illinois. After graduating from Blackburn summa cum laude, she worked at Travelers Insurance Company in several states before settling in Hartford. She earned her J.D. degree with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1991. Her legal career includes assignments in private practice and as a Connecticut assistant attorney general specializing in litigation, employment and business law. Ms. Magnan joined CCSU in June 2000 to work as an employment and labor attorney in the Human Resources office. Ms. Magnan has served as a member of Connecticut’s Client Security Fund, a position appointed by the Chief Justice of the Connecticut Supreme Court. Ms. Magnan and her husband live in Wethersfield.
