After 12 years with the organization, Ray Darwin was named Chief Financial Officer in the spring of 2009. In this position, he oversees the human resources, accounting and finance functions, with a focus toward maximizing the organization's efficiency. In addition, Darwin assists in the planning, selection and administration of USA Baseball's various professional teams that participate in the World Baseball Classic, IBAF Baseball World Cup and Olympic Games. Prior to serving as the CFO, Darwin managed both the 16U and 18U programs and assisted with many facets across the organization. Under his guidance, the 18U program won medals four out of five years from 2004-2008 including the silver medal at the 2008 IBAF "AAA" World Junior Championships. From 1998-2003, the 16U program compiled a 34-3 overall record and won three straight IBAF "AA" World Youth Championships. Darwin joined the organization as a media relations intern in May 1997. Before joining USA Baseball, Darwin gained sports management experience working for the Texas Rangers and the University of Pennsylvania athletic department. He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics with a concentration in marketing from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997. He also completed the Major League Scouting Bureau's scout fevelopment program in the fall of 2000 and has recently extended his education in accounting at North Carolina State University. Darwin lives in Raleigh, N.C., with his wife, Stacy, his daughter, Miranda, and son, Sam.
