Jonathan Lenzner, Executive Vice President, joined IGI after nine years as a federal and state prosecutor, bringing significant litigation experience and expertise dealing with complex white collar and financial crimes. Most recently, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Maryland, where he prosecuted public corruption, white collar crimes, among others. Lenzner recently led the investigation into corruption within the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services system that resulted in the indictment of contract employees taking bribes from criminal defendants. He indicted a sophisticated bank fraud ring and successfully tried the leaders of the conspiracy. Lenzner oversaw a wide-range of complex investigations, including into violations of tax laws, money laundering and government contract fraud. In his last trial, he helped secure the conviction of Corey Moore, known as the “Teflon Defendant” for his lengthy track record in dodging murder and drug charges. Prior to joining the Department of Justice, Lenzner worked as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office from 2004 to 2010 under Robert M. Morgenthau and his successor, Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. Lenzner served as the lead prosecutor into corruption at a New York university that led to the conviction of 24 defendants, including two senior administrators of the school. As part of a select bureau that targets international financial crimes, he investigated a multinational corporation based in Brazil that resulted in the indictment and conviction of a senior corporate officer. He was also part of the team investigating financial institutions for violating the U.S. ban of commercial relations with Iranian entities. In addition, he spent four years in the trial division and Sex Crimes Unit, where he successfully tried more than 20 cases before juries. Lenzner continues to lecture and conduct trainings for law enforcement officers. He also sits on the Dean’s Advisory Committee of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, from where he graduated in 2004. In addition to criminal justice experience, Lenzner brings a background in strategic corporate and political communications, having worked as a media strategist serving corporate and political clients for a California-based firm. He was the director of national press advance for former U.S. Sen. Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential bid and worked as a press secretary on Capitol Hill, including for the House International Relations Committee.
