Elz Cuya Jones, Director of Communications, co-leads the development department in partnership with the Director of Individual and Corporate Giving, to execute all of Harlem RBI and DREAM Charter School's fundraising efforts. Additionally, Elz is responsible for the communications and marketing functions of Harlem RBI and DREAM. Elz has worked in the non-profit sector since 2003, holding development and marketing positions at Youth Speaks, Hip-Hop Theater Festival and Women's Project. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Translation Project, a literary organization celebrating the Iranian diaspora, and Global Action Project, a New York City organization that works with young people most affected by injustice to build the knowledge, tools, and relationships needed to create media for political change. She is currently studying documentary filmmaking at Maysles Institute in Harlem and loves going to the theater. Born to immigrant Filipino parents, Elz earned her BA in Mass Communications at University of California, Berkeley. Prior to working in the non-profit world, she spent a decade in the broadcasting industry (KNBR Sports, KCBS News). Elz is passionate about young people and communities of color which makes Harlem RBI and DREAM Charter School a natural and inspiring place for her to be!
