A 1990 graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, Wilkins, 44, practiced 16 years with Burch, Porter & Johnson PLLC before leaving to start his own practice six years ago. His firm’s staff is currently made up of two full-time attorneys and one office manager/paralegal, he says. He supplements with contract attorneys, he says. His practice is primarily general civil litigation and government relations. He serves as “general counsel” for companies that want to do business with state and local government. Wilkins has been a high-profile face around the city for several years, serving on the board of directors for the Memphis Housing Authority and currently as treasurer for Willie Herenton’s congressional campaign for the 9th U.S. Congressional District.
