Reggie Fowler of Chandler, Arizona, pled guilty Monday April 25 2022 to one count of bank fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, one count of operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, one count of conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitting business, and one count of wire fraud. These offenses carry a total maximum sentence of 90 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced August 30, 2022. Fowler, the main original investor for the AAF, was arrested and charged on Tuesday May 1 2018. Fowler's inability to fund his original commitment to the Alliance of American Football is what ultimately led to the league's demise. The original main investor in the AAF, Reggie Fowler, was arrested and charged by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, the FBI and the IRS with committing bank fraud and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. The government entities allege that Fowler, and his partner Ravid Yosef, between February and October of 2018, moved hundreds of millions of dollars through banks for a cryptocurrency business under the guise of what they said were real estate holdings. Sources said Fowler had actually ponied up $28 million and had never said he was done funding, but the money was coming in too slowly. That caused the league to have to raise money quickly to avoid going out of business. In 2013, Fowler lost control of all his companies — there were more than 100 that he created — when it became known that he had debts of up to $60 million. He was also found to have falsified details in his bio, including that he played in the Little League World Series, that he graduated from the University of Wyoming with a business degree (it was in social work) and that he played in the NFL (he was cut by the Cincinnati Bengals in training camp). Reggie Fowler is the owner of Spiral, Inc. Fowler’s background includes management positions in manufacturing, finance, aerospace, real estate development and distribution. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Arizona.
