Brent R. Porteus was appointed to the board by Governor Kasich in May 2013 to serve a nine year term. Mr. Porteus is a managing partner of the family-owned farming and agricultural business, Blair Porteus & Sons, in Coshocton County, Ohio. Their primary focus is commercial grain and beef production. Blair Porteus & Sons is a local industry leader in value based marketing and retaining ownership to maximize advantages of cow herd genetics and herd health programs. Mr. Porteus is a board member of Nationwide and served as president of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation from 2008 to 2011. During his time there, he held many leadership roles and represented the farm bureau on trade missions to Cuba and Hong Kong. Mr. Porteus has also held positions with the Ohio Corn Growers Association, Ohio Corn Marketing Program and the National Corn Growers Association. Mr. Porteus graduated from The Ohio State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He currently serves as a board member in his local school district and a 4-H volunteer leader.
