Edward J. Robson, Founder & Chairman of Robson Communities, has logged some exciting times since graduating from Colorado College in 1954. A star athlete in high school and college, Ed was recruited to play hockey for Team USA in 1955. He served in the United States Marine Corps for five years as a helicopter pilot obtaining the rank of Captain. He began his real estate career with Coldwell Banker in 1960 and joined the Del Webb Corporation shortly thereafter. In 1972 Ed started his first active adult community with Sun Lakes and today continues to lead and inspire the company. Many honors have been bestowed to Ed recognizing his impressive achievements including the “Ellis Island Medal of Honor,” “Outstanding Business Leader” from Northwood University, “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” from Arizona State University, and most recently, the National Association of Home Builders “Icon of the Industry” award. In addition to running his company, he has also been very active in giving back to the community. Ed has devoted a significant amount of time and resources to charity including Childhelp USA, Phoenix Boys & Girls Clubs, Phoenix Symphony, American Heart Association and Arizona Foundation for Women, to name a few. Mr. Robson has six children, fourteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and four dogs.
