Barrett held the role of chairman and CEO at Cardinal Health until his retirement in 2017. He had been vice chairman and chief executive officer of the company's Healthcare Supply Chain Services segment since joining Cardinal Health in January 2008. He previously held senior positions with Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Inc., including president and CEO of Teva North America, corporate EVP of global pharmaceutical markets, and from 1999-2007 president of Teva Pharmaceuticals USA. Barrett, 52, will join the company at the end of January and report to Chairman and CEO R. Kerry Clark. He served as corporate executive vice president of Teva's Global Pharmaceutical Markets since January 2007, as well as CEO of Teva North America since January 2005. He was president and CEO of Teva USA from 1999 to 2004. Prior to joining Teva in 1999, Barrett served as CEO of Diad Research, a technology start-up. From 1990 to 1997, he held various senior management positions with pharmaceutical companies Alpharma Inc. and NMC Laboratories. Barrett is a past chairman of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association and is on the board of ambassadors of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine's Project Restore. He received his bachelor's degree from Brown University in 1977 and his master's degree in Business Administration from New York University in 1988.
