Carol “Sistie” Stollenwerck was born into a pioneer lumber family in East Texas, the younger of John and Dorothy Henderson's two children. Her earliest years were spent in the small Texas community of Keltys until her father's death in 1944, when the family moved to Lufkin where Sistie continued her education. She graduated from the Madeira School in Virginia and earned her BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. In 1958 Sistie married attorney Henry Stollenwerck and moved to Dallas, where they presently live. Their three children, Logan Henry Stollenwerck, III, Dr. J.W. Smith Stollenwerck and daughter and son-in-law Brooke and Frank Aldridge also live in Dallas. Sistie Stollenwerck began her exemplary career as a community volunteer with the Dallas Lawyers' Wives, the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club and the Dallas Cerebral Palsy Organization. A talented and energetic leader, she has volunteered her organizational skills to numerous important areas and national organizations. Prime among them is her service on the board of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, founded by Mrs. Johnson and newly expanded in recent years. Mrs. Stollenwerck has served on the board and chaired important projects for the Crystal Charity Ball, Friends & Nabors (organ transplantation benefit), Neiman Marcus Fortnight, the Dallas Zoo, the Junior League and the Visiting Nurse Association, all of Dallas. She serves on the Chancellor's Advisory Committee for the University of North Texas, as well.
