Jin Ligang

Jin Ligang is a Principal of Albright Stonebridge Group, a global strategy firm. He is also Chairman of Stonebridge China where he leads a professional team to advise multinational companies on public policies and government relations strategies in China, and oversees the firm’s business operation in China. As a former senior government official, Mr. Jin brings exceptional expertise and resources to the firm. Before joining the firm in 2005, Mr. Jin headed the China team for MBP Consulting, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mayor Brown law firm which provided strategic advisory services to multinational companies doing business in China. Prior to joining the private sector in 2001, Mr. Jin spent many years with the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (formerly Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation) working extensively on China’s foreign trade and investment issues. From 1998 to 2001, he held diplomatic positions including Commercial Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, DC, and Lead Commercial Officer at the Chinese Consulate in New York, where he worked closely with both Chinese and American companies on a wide range of trade and investment related issues. Between 1990 and 1997, he was heavily involved in a series of bilateral talks including China-US market access consultation, IPR discussions, GATT negotiations and WTO accession talks, serving as Deputy Director, Director and Deputy Director General at the commerce ministry. Prior to that, he worked in Hamburg, Germany for a number of years in 1980s as the Special Assistant to the Chairman of China United Trading Corp. GmbH, which was a principal trade and investment promotion agency in West Europe for the Chinese government. Since 2004, Mr. Jin has served as the Chief Representative in China for the US Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation. He is also an adviser of Paulson Institute, an institution established by Henry Paulson, former US Secretary of Treasury. Mr. Jin graduated from Beijing Foreign Trade Institute. He also studied in Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS) in Rome and the University of Maryland.
