Peter Read was Executive Vice President, Group Executive for New England and a member of Bank of Boston’s management committee when he retired in September of 1992. Trained as a lender, he was involved for 10 years in the bank’s Special Industries Division managing complex syndicated loans to the media/entertainment and other capital intensive industries. He managed the bank’s U.K. businesses out of London in the '70s and subsequently became Executive Vice President for all international operations in 1980. Prior to the New England responsibilities, he managed the bank’s treasury, investment banking and venture capital activities. Currently, in addition to strategic consulting, Read is Director of Draper Laboratory and Chair of the Audit Committee; Director of Data Integrity Inc.; Member of the Advisory Board, Boston Private Bank & Trust Co.; Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of American Student Assistance; Life Trustee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; Governor of the New England Medical Center Hospitals; Director and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the MacDowell Colony Inc. and Member of the Advisory Boards of CME International and GAGA’s Inc. A native of Massachusetts, he was awarded a B.A. in Political Science from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. He served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant. He is married to the former Suzanne Lewis and they have two grown children.
