Mr. Howley was named Chairman of the Board of Directors of TD Group in July 2003. He has served as Chief Executive Officer of TD Group since December 2005 and of TransDigm Inc. since December 2001. Mr. Howley served as President of TD Group from July 2003 through December 2005, as Chief Operating Officer of TransDigm Inc. from December 1998 through December 2001 and as President of TransDigm Inc. from December 1998 through September 2005. Mr. Howley was a director of Polypore International Inc., a NYSE-listed manufacturer of polymer-based membranes used in separation and filtration processes through October 2012. Mr. Howley was a director of Satair A/S, a Danish public company that is an aerospace distributor, including a distributor of the Company's products through October 2011. On December 14, 2016, the Board of Directors of TransDigm Group Incorporated determined that Mr. Howley will continue as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2017. Mr. Howley is an original founder of and is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransDigm Group Inc. (NYSE: TDG). TransDigm owns and operates a broad range of aerospace manufacturing businesses and has acquired thirty-seven such businesses since its formation in 1993. Prior to founding TDG, Mr. Howley worked for Imo Industries (a NYSE Industrial Conglomerate) from 1988 to 1993 first as the Corporate Director of Finance and then as General Manager of the AeroProducts Divisions. Prior to 1988, he held a range of general management, manufacturing, engineering, and international marketing jobs in the engineered service, oil drilling equipment, defense, and farm machinery industries. Mr. Howley is a director of Satair A/S (SAT/The Nordic Exchange) and Polypore Inc. (PPO/NYSE); he is a trustee of Case Western Reserve University, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Gilmour Academy and St. Martin de Porres High School. Mr. Howley received his B.S. degree in Engineering (mechanical) from Drexel University in 1975 and an MBA from Harvard University in 1979.
