George P Stamas

George Stamas, a Greek American venture capitalist and attorney, is a partner in the Washington and New York offices of Kirkland and Ellis LLP. Mr. Stamas was the former vice chairman of the board of Deutsche Banc Alex Brown, Inc. He is a founding board member of FTI Consulting (NYSE), a venture partner and now venture consultant of New Enterprise Associates, and an executive board member of MidOcean Partners. Mr. Stamas recently served on the boards of Gridpoint Technologies and of Medicity, Inc. For his legal work, Mr. Stamas has been honored with the Tier 1 rating by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers and has been listed by Best Lawyers in America for many years. Mr. Stamas is active in numerous local and national civic affairs, including the boards of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and Youth Inc., and is an Archon of the International Order of St. Andrew and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1973), and the University of Maryland Law School (1976).
