Bill Scannell is President, Global Sales and Customer Operations at EMC Corporation. With revenues of $21.7 billion in 2012 and 60,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset—information—in a more agile, trusted and cost-efficient way. Scannell was appointed President of Global Sales and Customer Operations in July 2012 after overseeing customer operations in the Americas and EMEA. He is responsible for driving EMC's global growth and continued market leadership by delivering and supporting the full range of EMC products, services and solutions to organizations in established and new markets around the world. He is also responsible for enhancing global partner and channel relationships and ensuring that EMC’s customer facing sales and service professionals understand and communicate the unique value that EMC brings to customers and business partners. As part of this mission, he focuses on driving coordination and teamwork among EMC's business unit sales forces. He is also charged with building and maintaining relationships with EMC's largest global accounts, global alliance partners, and global channel partners. Scannell has risen steadily through the management ranks of EMC since he joined the company in 1986. He began his career as an EMC sales representative and became country manager of Canada in 1988. Shortly thereafter, his theater responsibilities expanded to include the U.S. and Latin America. In 1999, he moved to London to oversee EMC's business across all of Europe, Middle East and Africa. He then managed Worldwide Sales in 2001 and 2002 before being appointed Executive Vice President in 2007. Under Scannell’s leadership, EMC's customer facing professionals have earned distinction as one of the most successful and customer-focused organizations in any industry, solidifying EMC's position as a world leader in information technology. Scannell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Northeastern University and is based at EMC's corporate headquarters in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
