Ms. McCarthy has litigation experience as a federal criminal prosecutor and defense attorney. She spent over 4 years on active duty as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force. During that time, Ms. McCarthy prosecuted and defended military members involved in a variety of legal matters, including over 20 courts-martial. More recently, Ms. McCarthy represented the United States in federal district courts throughout the country as a trial attorney in the Criminal Division, Fraud Section of the United States Department of Justice. She specialized in complex litigation involving conspiracies, mail and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, and mortgage fraud. She has performed in jury trials, plea and sentencing hearings, and grand jury proceedings. These experiences allow her to help clients anticipate likely government actions and to develop quick and cost effective strategies to manage investigations. Ms. McCarthy is admitted to the Virginia bar. She is currently not admitted in the District of Columbia but is supervised by principals of the firm.
