Macleod, 56, has served as National's executive vice president, COO and general manager of the product lines since 2001. During the past three years, he has been a principal architect of the company's repositioning as an analog technology leader. Prior to becoming COO, Macleod served as executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) for 10 years. As president and COO, Macleod will drive National's operational activities, including sales, manufacturing, technology development and business systems. He will also continue to manage the company's product groups. Macleod joined National in 1978 from the accounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick. Over the next two decades, he accumulated global experience serving in senior leadership positions in finance, operations and marketing for National in England, Scotland, Germany and the United States. A native of Scotland, Macleod holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Stirling in Scotland. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a board member and former president of the Cupertino (Calif.) Education Endowment Foundation.
