Jeffery Mortier has nearly a decade of public policy experience focusing primarily in the areas of healthcare, energy, telecommunications, privacy, and data security. He has provided strategic advice and lobbying expertise to fortune 500 companies, industry associations, and non-profit organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Jeff served as a Professional Staff Member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee under Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI). In that role, he helped organize the Energy and Commerce Committee’s 2011 agenda and promoted the Chairman’s legislative priorities including work on online privacy and data security issues. He also served as a liaison to Member offices on the Energy and Commerce Committee dealing directly with Members and senior staff. Prior to that, Jeff spent the previous five years with Representative Ed Whitfield (R-KY) handling a wide range of issues relating to the Congressman’s assignment on the Energy and Commerce Committee. On behalf of Congressman Whitfield, Jeff worked on a number of bills including the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007, and the Food Safety and Modernization Act. A Louisiana native, Jeff joined the firm as a partner in December of 2011. He currently lives in Washington, DC with his wife Nicole.
