From his youth, Jim has been an archer, and since 1960 has been directly affiliated with our industry with the family business, then known as James D. Easton, Inc., located in Van Nuys, California. From 1980 to 1984 Jim served as the Olympic Commissioner of Archery on the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee, and then mayor of the Olympic Athletes Village at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. In 1989 he was elected President of FITA, our international governing body for archery, and re-elected to that position in 1993 for another term. He organized the 1983 World Archery Championships in Long Beach, California, was Development and Technical Assistance Committee Chairman (FITA), and he also helped develop the New Olympic Round for Olympic Archery in cooperation with the Barcelona RTO and NBC Sports and ESPN.
