Robert Vinson’s passion is building affordable single family housing and community facilities in the greater Los Angeles area. Today, his company, VINSON Building Community, is a community redevelopment, design and environmental advocacy firm focused on developing environmentally-friendly work/live lofts in Silver Lake. Robert lectures at USC’s School of Policy, Planning and Development on affordable housing issues in Los Angeles and has served on the California Criminal Advisory Commission and the California State Export Finance Board. He is also active with Amnesty International, LA’s Best, Alternative Living for the Aging and the Green Revolution Film Festival. He has organized press, scheduling, rapid response and research for President Clinton, Mrs. Clinton, former Vice President Gore and Senator Kerry, as well as for the Dalai Lama’s tours of the United States, including the reoccurring 70,000-person event in Central Park produced by Richard Gere. He co-produced, with Fenton Communications, former Vice President Al Gore’s New York presentation of his “slide show” which was the precursor to the Academy Award-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth.
