Gene Rountree founded Food Service Inc. in 1967 and serves as owner and CEO of the company. Prior to opening his own business, Rountree worked for Price-Waterhouse, the Big Eight accounting firm, in its Charlotte office for six years. Active in the community, Gene has served as the president of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Economic Development Council for the Midlands. He also served as commissioner and treasurer for Midlands Technical College, president of Lexington School Facilities, board chair of the Easter Seals of South Carolina and chair of MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Citizens advisory council. Gene is active in his church where he has served as deacon, deacon chairman, Sunday school teacher, trustee and finance committee chair. Gene received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the Moore School of Business-USC and the 2000 Small Business Person of the year for the Greater Columbia area. Gene and his wife, Emily, have five daughters and 12 grandchildren.
