Jim Slater serves as Vice President of Production Engineering for Black Elk Energy. He is a registered Professional Petroleum Engineer with over thirty years experience in all phases of reservoir and production engineering. Mr. Slater has proven success in optimizing field production, managing operated networks, budgets and evaluating producing properties. His current responsibility includes managing production and operations through the Black Elk operated asset teams (East, Central and West). Previously, Mr. Slater served as Vice President of Production Operations at Fairways Offshore Resources. Prior to Fairways he was the Production Manager at Beryl Oil and Gas and a Senior Production Engineer & Reservoir Engineer (offshore & international) for Apache Corporation. Earlier, Mr. Slater was a Senior Reservoir Engineer for Cockrell Oil Corporation and Amerada-Hess Corporation. For several years he worked both in Houston and Anchorage for Arco Oil & Gas in both Operations and Reservoir. Mr. Slater holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.
