Clement Pappas is the former CEO of Clement Pappas & Co., a leading supplier of private brand juices, which was founded in 1942 by his grandfather, a hardworking U.S. immigrant. Growing up, the business was a key part of Clement’s family life, and he later worked in an executive capacity for the company for 15 years. Clement officially joined the family business in 1999 as a Special Projects Manager, responsible for managing cost savings initiatives in the company’s turnaround plan. Following the successful turnaround, he worked his way up to the role of Plant Manager by 2001 and in 2003 he became Director of West Coast Operations, responsible for the company’s Western expansion and startup of its new manufacturing facility. Between 2004 and 2011, Clement served in various executive management roles, including VP of Manufacturing and VP of Specialty & National Sales. Clement was responsible for penetrating key national accounts including Wal-Mart and Costco which where critical to solidifying the company’s position as a national supplier. Clement led the sale of the business to Lassonde in 2011 and served as CEO before stepping down in 2013. Prior to Clement Pappas & Co., he worked for Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in the New York office. Clement is an active, hands-on investor in start-ups, focusing on those that can benefit from his food/beverage industry experience, including Federal Distilling and Stack Wine. He is also a member of the YPO Philadelphia Chapter and past Board member of the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association. Clement graduated cum laude from Duke University with a BSE in Economics and Civil Engineering and earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he graduated a Palmer Scholar—the highest academic honor conferred by the School. Clement is a 2015 Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
