José Sergio Gabrielli de Azevedo has been Secretary of Planning of the Government of the State of Bahia since March 9, 2012. He was formerly the CEO of Petrobras and member of the Board of Directors of the company from July 2005 to February 2012, being its longest serving president. Before that Gabrielli served as Chief Financial Officer and Investor Relations from January 2003 to July 2005, with responsibility for the Managerial Accounting, Finance, Project Finance, Investor Relations, Financial and Tax Planning. He has been widely honored and recognized. In 2011, Gabrielli was named Executive of the Year by the Petroleum Energy Intelligence, London and was awarded as the most outstanding executive in trade relations between Brazil-Japan by the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Japan. Also in 2011 he was elected the Executive Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young Terco. In 2010 he received the Global Energy Award, of the World Energy Council in Montreal, Canada. In 2009, received the award Person of the Year, bestowed by the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce. Gabrielli has a PhD in Economics from Boston University (1987). He graduated in Economics from the Federal University of Bahia in 1971 and obtained a Masters Degree from the same University in 1975.
