Founded in 1988, they were at one point a respected think-tank who have become an Islamophobic organization espousing anti-Muslim ideology and conspiracy theories. The Southern Poverty Law Center considers them to be an extremist hate group. Donald Trump regularly referenced them on the campaign trail.
