Far-right movement distinguished by yellow safety-vests
Inspired by the French protests, beginning in 2018, Canadian protestors adopted the yellow vest aesthetic and grew in popularity. The French protests were against rising gas prices but in Canada, they became anti-immigrant, xenophobic and there are numerous examples of overt/organized white supremacy. By 2020, the Yellow Vest movement was largely diminished. Many in the movement shifted their focus to COVID-19.
