Although John Papola, Emergent Order’s founder, has denied that his firm was involved in the Great Barrington Declaration (he said: “I’m not aware of the Great Barrington Declaration, so I can’t comment on what that is other than to say that we have not participated in it as a firm”), there are numerous sources that provide commentary and evidence that dispute his claim. The general consensus is that Emergent Order, LLC (previous name) was paid by American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), publisher of the Great Barrington Declaration, to promote it. Both AIER & Emergent Order have ties to the Charles Koch Charitable Foundation.
