Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness CHOP

Facilitating Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness The Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness (CPCE) is a Center of Emphasis at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute, one of the largest pediatric research institutes in the US. CPCE’s multidisciplinary team facilitates, organizes, and centralizes the conduct of clinical effectiveness research to help determine the best ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat pediatric illness. We are a group of clinicians, biostatisticians, researchers, and public health experts that work to improve the quality of care delivered to children. To promote clinical effectiveness research at CHOP, the Center: provides a physical and intellectual home for clinical effectiveness researchers at CHOP mentors fellows and young faculty provides resources including pilot grants, grant writing services, and data services educates our researchers in the methods of clinical epidemiology disseminates knowledge gained from research findings partners with other groups at CHOP to implement best practices to improve the quality of care delivered to our patients History CPCE has its origins in the Pediatric Generalist Research Group at CHOP, which was formed to perform health services research. In 2007, the Pediatric Generalist Research Group split into two centers, the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness and PolicyLab. CPCE still benefits greatly from interactions and collaborations with PolicyLab, and the two centers jointly oversee the Healthcare Analytics Unit.
