Sparbanksstiftelsen Sjuhärad aims to promote the Sjuhäradsbygden and contribute to it becoming a more attractive place to live and work. The foundation's main tasks are to promote frugality by preserving and developing the ideas and values of the savings bank and association banking operations and to strengthen the bank's competitiveness in the market. Every year, grants are awarded for research / education, business and culture and sports in the municipalities of Bollebygd, Mark, Svenljunga and the city of Borås. During the years 1998 to 2018, 1,803 recipients received a share of SEK 226 million - and the work continues. The history of the foundation Borås Sparbank was founded in 1831. The foundation was formed in connection with Borås Sparbank in 1995 being transformed into a bank limited company, Sparbanken Borås AB. In 1998, Sparbanken Borås AB acquired Föreningsbanken's branch in the area and in connection with this, the bank changed its name to FöreningsSparbanken Sjuhärad AB and the foundation changed its name to Stiftelsen FöreningsSparbanken Sjuhärad. In 2007, it was time for a new name change when the bank changed its name to Swedbank Sjuhärad AB. As a consequence of this, and to mark the connection between foundation and bank, the foundation changed its name in 2008 to what now applies, Sparbanksstiftelsen Sjuhärad. At the beginning of 2018, the bank made a name change from Swedbank Sjuhärad AB to Sparbanken Sjuhärad AB, this creates a clearer connection between Sparbanken and the Foundation. In connection with the name change, the Foundation carried out a change of logo. We went from the slightly older oak to a more digital and modern oak. There is also a clearer connection to Sparbanken's logo. The foundation is the majority owner of Sparbanken Sjuhärad AB. Other shares are owned by Swedbank AB (publ) and the bank's personnel foundation. It is the dividend on the foundation's shareholding that makes it possible for the foundation to return money to the area in the form of grants. The first dividend was paid in 1998.
