Our senior managers include founding members of the World Bank’s carbon finance business that pioneered the methods, processes, and documentation for carbon asset creation and monetization for North-South trade in carbon emissions reductions under the Kyoto Protocol. We use our experience in carbon market development to conceptualize and pilot new products and markets for verified outcomes in the energy, land use and health sector under pay for performance contracts. Ken Newcombe, Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder Ken Newcombe Ken Newcombe has over 35 years of experience in developing financially viable sustainable energy and forestry projects in the developing countries. He was a research scientist in environmental health and natural resource management at the Australian National University, and first Head of Energy Planning and chief executive of the Papua New Guinea Electricity Commission before joining the World Bank’s newly formed Energy Department in 1982. At the World Bank he participated in design and supervision of a new series of energy sector wide ending operations and led the technical advisory team on energy sector investment in Africa In the early 1990’s he led the teams that developed and managed the first investment operations of the Global Environment Facility and the Montreal Protocol’s Multilateral Investment Facility to phase our ozone depleting substances. In the World Bank he initiated and led the first global carbon fund, the Prototype Carbon Fund, and managed the growth of the World Bank’s carbon finance business to a total of eight carbon funds and over a billion dollars under management. After leaving the World Bank in 2005, Ken joined management teams in Climate Change Capital in London and Goldman Sachs in New York before accepting the role of building C-Quest Capital as CEO of CQC. Isabel Alegre, Senior Advisor Isabel Alegre Isabel Alegre has more than fifteen years of experience in the sustainable environmental projects and carbon finance business: developing, establishing and managing carbon funds, monitoring carbon emission reductions projects and organizing and managing carbon assets transactions. She gained experience working as Carbon Funds Coordinator at the World Bank’s Carbon Finance Business and then as Carbon Operations Portfolio Officer at Natsource LLC. On December 2008, Isabel joined CQC as Operations Director, responsible for client relations, sale of carbon assets and the Quality Carbon Management portfolio of projects. Isabel became C-Quest Capital Managing Director for Operations in April 2013. She is now C-Quest Capital Senior Advisor as of April 2015. Richard Cobbs, Chief Financial Officer Richard Cobbs Richard Cobbs has over ten years of experience as a finance executive, working with companies as both an advisor and an investor. As Chief Financial Officer at C-Quest Capital (CQC), Richard is responsible for managing the finance and accounting functions for the CQC group of companies. Prior to joining CQC, Richard served as the Chief Financial Officer for Revolution Energy Solutions, a company focused on the production of renewable energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through projects that operate on agricultural platforms throughout the U.S. He was primarily responsible for raising capital to construct and operate these projects and also led the company’s project development efforts with government agencies and electric utilities. Previously, Richard was a Vice President in the financial services group of American Capital Strategies, a global private equity and asset management firm. Richard also invested in and raised capital for companies in the industrial and business services sectors during his tenure at Wachovia Capital Partners, the private equity investment arm of Wachovia Corporation, and Harris Williams & Co., a middle market investment bank. Richard received an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BS in Management and Accounting from Washington & Lee University. David M. Williamson, General Counsel DMW Photo Max is a Chambers-rated environmental and corporate lawyer and policy advisor assisting clients with environmental and energy transactions and policy matters across a range of sectors, including energy generation and infrastructure, carbon markets, industrial and manufacturing, biofuels, oil and gas, green finance, and clean-tech. He is a graduate of Yale University and received his J.D. and Masters degrees from Vermont Law School specializing in environmental law and policy. He is past co-chair of the DC Bar Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Section, and serves on the boards of various charitable organizations including the DC Environmental Film Festival and the oceans advocacy network Sailors for the Sea, and as general counsel to the scholarship charity Haitian Education and Leadership Program. Jason Steele, Chief Operating Officer Jason Photo Website As Chief Operating Officer, Jason will primarily oversee CQC’s investment operations in cleaner cooking and biomass fuels. He is a clean energy program manager with nearly 15 years of experience and demonstrated expertise in climate finance and rural energy program development and implementation. Prior to his most recent start at CQC, Jason has been working at SNV since 2013 as the Sector Leader Renewable Energy for Cambodia, with a key responsibility of managing SNV Cambodia’s renewable energy portfolio and expanding their operations. Prior to SNV Jason worked as Operations Manager at CQC, helping manage their improved cookstove financial platform that consists of several programmatic Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects located in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to CQC, Jason was a Manager at International Resources Group (IRG) where he managed and provided subject matter expertise to USAID funded projects. Prior to that, Jason worked for the World Bank for 10 years both as staff and consultant, working for serveral years on carbon finance and later managing several decentralized rural energy technical assistance projects in Southeast Asia funded by the Asia Sustainable and Alternative Energy Program (ASTAE) and the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), focusing on Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) development and developing delivery mechanisms for energy efficient household and renewable energy technologies including improved cookstoves, household biodigesters, solar home systems and solar charged Light Emitting Diode (LED) lanterns. Ang Kong Nian, Director, Malaysia and Senior Advisor, Carbon Finance Ang website photo2 Ang Kong Nian has over six years of experience in developing and managing CDM projects ranging from independent projects (PDD) to Programs of Activities (PoA). A CDM technical specialist with strong knowledge of the entire CDM cycle from origination and feasibility studies to carbon credit issuance, he worked at BioX Carbon Malaysia, which specialized in biogas CDM activities. He was responsible for assessing the feasibility of potential CDM projects and managing the project’s path through the CDM regulatory processes. At CQC, Ang prepares CDM-related documents and provides CDM-related expertise on design and implementation of CDM projects to comply with the requirements set forth by the CDM Executive Board. He holds a BSc in Biotechnology and MSc in Industrial Biotechnology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Tridip Kumar Goswami, Head of Carbon Compliance tridip website photo2 Tridip has over thirteen years of work experience in the field of climate change and renewable energy including hydrogen energy. Prior to joining CQC, he worked as Technical Team Leader and Business Development manager in verification firms TUV Rhineland and SGS India Pvt Ltd in their respective climate change business units. He also served as a CDM consultant with organization like Zenith Energy and IT Power and developed more than 60 projects from various sectors as CDM/VCS/ISO 14064 projects. Tridip is an expert in hydrogen energy and was part of the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) team that successfully developed the PEM Fuel Cell and 200W SPE Water Electrolyzer project in the Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), TN, India. At CQC, he is accountable for all Programme of Activities compliance matters, inside and outside India. Tridip has a Master in Science (Chemistry) from Gauhati University and a Master in Technology (Energy Technology) from Tezpur University. He is also a qualified ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 lead auditor and has developed and verified projects from different Industrial sector. Siddartha Pakrashi, Chief Operations Officer, India, and Africa Stoves Sidd5 Siddhartha Pakrashi has thirteen years of experience in a variety of sectors including the automobile industry, banking and now carbon finance. Prior to joining CQC, he was with Citibank India’s Corporate Banking Division where he was involved in many different areas including Foreign Exchange Operations, Internal Process Audit for India, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh, and finally served as Head of Clearing Operations for Delhi and the National Capital Region. In his auto industry years with Maruti Udyog Limited, the Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, Sid was intimately involved in launching India’s super popular car, the Maruti Suzuki Swift. As part of the CQC India team, he was managing the day-to-day operations for CDM CFL projects, including CFL distribution under the efficient lighting PoA for India. Other than that, he has been looking after the operations of CQC’s improved cookstoves project in Nigeria and Zambia. He has a degree in business management from the Indian School of Business and a degree in Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, Delhi University. Ayaduray Ravi Ganesan, Financial Controller, Malaysia Ravi Ayaduray has over 20 years of financial experience. His expertise spans the areas of accounting and corporate tax, corporate management, cost accounting, budgeting and internal control procedures. Ayaduray is a Chartered Management Accountant by profession and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). As part of the C-Quest Capital Malaysia Limited team, Ayaduray, in his capacity as Financial Controller, oversees and reports to management on the financial operations of all its subsidiaries and related companies. Onyx Msachiwa, Senior Advisor, Africa Stoves Onyx_head_shot.png Onyx is an expert in modern construction techniques of improved cookstoves for rural communities across Sub-Saharan Africa. He holds a certificate in health and climate change obtained from Yale University and a degree in business administration.
