Erika Ayers Badan is leaving the irreverent media property Barstool Sports in January 2024 after more than seven years as CEO. In a blog post, she said revenue has increased 50-fold during her tenure, and "I did what I came here to do." It's been a chaotic year for Barstool, which was acquired by Penn Entertainment for a nine-figure sum, then sold back to founder David Portnoy for $1, amid regulatory issues around Barstool Sportsbook and a deal with ESPN. Ayers Badan said the company "is back as it should be. A pirate ship with Dave at the helm."
