Meringoff Foundation

Mission As a family, we make hands-on philanthropic investments primarily in NYC-based nonprofits that are working to level the playing field for young New Yorkers. We believe it is our job to invest in local kids to help them build a future. Strategy Currently, the Foundation's primary focus is enhancing public education outcomes in NYC. We also are interested in furthering critical programs in cutting edge medical research and innovative public health interventions. We actively engage in a dialogue with our nonprofit partners to identify their unmet needs, and leverage our seed capital to develop programs that satisfy those needs over time. We believe that our real work starts when the grant award check is mailed, and strive to maintain an active, mutually beneficial relationship with our partners. Our multiyear grants are generally limited to three years. We are accessible, responsive, flexible, and approach our work with enthusiasm and an open mind. Since its creation in 2008, the Meringoff Family Foundation has given over $23,000,000 to more than 100 nonprofits, the vast majority of which are New York City-based. In 2018, we awarded $2,900,000 to 60 organizations.
