The experience shaped a lot of what became Miso, in the sheer sense that I got to see up-close how research scientists, engineers, product managers and designers often struggle to stay up-to-date with the trends, breakthroughs and events shaping their field. I got to work with a diverse range of Fortune500s and grant giving non-profit foundations on understanding this problem at a deep level and building rudimentary prototypes of products and services that could meet their needs. Motherboard is pretty much quiescent now outside of a few light-touch advisory board roles with groups like the Peterson Center on Healthcare and a stealth education startup that's building a global network of schools around the world.
