Melanie Sloan, founding executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and Michael Huttner, founder of ProgressNow, announced they are launching Triumph Strategy, a public affairs firm focused on crisis communications and "disruption strategies." The firm will have offices in Washington and Boulder, Colo., and plans to work with private, nonprofit and public clients, as well as trade groups, unions and campaigns. Sloan started CREW, a government watchdog group, in 2003, and previously served as an assistant United States attorney in the District of Columbia and as minority counsel for the House Judiciary Committee. Huttner founded the progressive advocacy group ProgressNow, a network of state-based communications organizations. He previously led the lobbying practice at a Denver law firm, advised former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer, and clerked in the Clinton White House. Triumph Strategy is launching with CREW as a client, and will work on strategy for the organization.
