Opened in 1952 on the site that is now the home of Point Loma Nazarene University. In 1968, the school was renamed United States International University and moved to Scripps Ranch. In 2001, it merged into Alliant International University. The school’s controversial founder, Dr. William C. Rust, was widely blamed for a management style that, some have said, led the school into financial straits from which it never recovered throughout the 1970s and ’80s.
