Walter Stern is Vice Chairman and a Director of Capital International, Inc. Prior to joining Capital in 1973, Mr. Stern was Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Drexel Burnham & Co. in New York, where he was responsible for research, institutional sales and investment management. Mr. Stern received a bachelor’s degree (Phi Beta Kappa) from Williams College and an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard University. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a past Chairman of the Institute for Chartered Financial Analysts and the Financial Analysts Federation; he recently retired from the Board of Temple-Inland, Inc. Stern is Chairman Emeritus of The Hudson Institute and Vice President of The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He serves on a number of other charitable and public policy boards.
