Calpine Corporation is America’s largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources with robust commercial, industrial and residential retail operations in key competitive power markets. Based in Houston, TX and founded in 1984, it uses advanced technologies to generate power in an efficient, cost-effective and environmentally responsible manner. Calpine operate approximately 50 gas-powered power plants (~ 25,000MW overall) and 13 geothermal plants (~ 725 MW) which represent approximately 1/3 of the US geothermal production. The company also own the 4MW Vineland Solar Energy center in New Jersey and its two wind farms in New York state are under development. Calpine operations are found in approximately 15 US states and the company also has shared ownership of two plants near Toronto and Ottawa in Canada.
