Jim is an Executive Advisor to Mitsubishi International Corporation in New York, where he worked for over 30 years, and is their former Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He was a director of Mitsubishi International Corporation from 1982 to 2010 and was a director of Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan from 1995 to 2002. Prior to joining Mitsubishi, Jim practiced with law firms in New York and Tokyo. Jim is active in the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he is a member of the International Human Rights Committee. He was Chair of the Committee on International Trade, Chair of the Task Force on International Legal Services and the Association’s representative to the International Bar Association. At the International Bar Association Jim served on a seven member Task Force on International Multijurisdictional Commercial Practice and was the Co-Chair of the Corporate Counsel Forum. Jim was President of the Mitsubishi Corporation Foundation for the Americas from 1992 to 2010, as well as Trustee of the Mitsubishi Corporation Fund for Europe and Africa from 2002 to 2010. He is Chairperson of the Board of the American Bird Conservancy and also serves on the board of Forest Trends. Jim is also a member of the board of Tembec Inc., a publicly traded Canadian forest products company, where he serves on the Corporate Governance and Human Resources Committee.
