Ceasar C Mitchell Jr

Attorney Ceasar Mitchell serves as 7th President of the Atlanta City Council, leading the city's legislative branch, in addition to practicing commercial real estate and finance at the global firm, DLA Piper. Prior to being elected Council President, Ceasar served eight years as a citywide Councilmember, championing key legislation facilitating economic revitalization in underdeveloped areas. As a Councilmember, Ceasar formed a Parks Advisory Group to recommend methods to increase and better maintaining parks and green space within the city. Additionally, he created a Clean Green Team to provide technical assistance and resources to 22 community groups working to improve their neighborhoods. Ceasar is a former board director of the Atlanta Development Authority, now Invest Atlanta, which implements Atlanta's economic development initiatives. He is a gubernatorial appointee to the Georgia Commission on Service and Volunteerism; serves on the Emory University Board of Visitors; and is on the advisory boards for Hands On Atlanta and Outward Bound Atlanta. Professionally, he has served on the Board of Governors of the National Bar Association and is a past president of the Gate City Bar Association, Atlanta's oldest legal association founded by African-American lawyers. Ceasar is a graduate of Morehouse College and earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law where he served on the Moot Court Board and the International Law Journal. He is a member of the 2013 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.
