The city’s top lawyer got more than a half-million dollars from Cablevision after leaving the company’s board, documents show.
Corporation Counsel Zachary Carter served on the board of the cable giant — a frequent target of criticism by Mayor de Blasio when he was running for mayor — until Hizzoner tapped him to run the city Law Department.
Carter was paid at least $500,000, in the form of a distribution of shares of stock, when he cut ties to the board, according to financial-disclosure forms filed with the city Conflicts of Interest Board. He got the distribution in June 2014, four months after starting with the city.
Cablevision says its board members earn restricted stock worth $110,000 each year, and they receive it when they leave.
The Law Department said the amount is close to the minimum listed on the conflicts board form. |
