"The intelligence failures that resulted in the 9-11 mass murder of 3,000 Americans was a calamity that I personally knew was on the way. While at a conference in a Gulf country, I was tipped off by a high level Taliban leader that a massive terrorist attack, the likes America had never seen before, would be happening soon. He was graphic in his description of the magnitude of the death and destruction. The reason he was talking to me: Years before, during the Soviet occupation, he was part of the Mujahideen team I marched with at the Battle of Jalalabad. He and I together had shot rockets at Soviet troops and lived through a Soviet artillery barrage that was their response to our bombardment of their positions." |
