THE ASSOCIATED PRESS PIERRE — Officials in both the Republican and Democratic parties said Monday they think they have a good chance of winning control of the South Dakota Legislature in this year's election. Democrats now have a 20-15 edge in the Senate, but Republicans have a 42-28 advantage in the House. Georgia Hanson, executive director of the South Dakota Republican Party, said the GOP is recruiting a wood slate of candidates for the legislative races. “For us, it's important to take back the Senate, but it's also important to keep the House," Hanson said. "It should be a good year.” |
