About INET Oxford The Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School (INET Oxford) is a multidisciplinary research centre dedicated to applying leading-edge thinking from the social and physical sciences to global economic challenges. INET Oxford has over 75 affiliated scholars from disciplines that include economics, mathematics, computer science, physics, biology, ecology, geography, psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, history, political science, public policy, business, and law working on its various programmes. INET Oxford is a research centre within the University of Oxford’s Martin School, a community of over 300 scholars working on the major challenges of the 21st century and has partnerships with nine academic departments and colleges. INET Oxford pursues research across nine thematic areas: Financial system stability Economic inequality Economic growth and innovation The economics of sustainability Technology and the economy Risk and resilience Ethics and economics The future of capitalism The foundations of economic theory and methodology INET Oxford was founded in 2012 as the result of a grant by the Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), a New York based philanthropic organisation that was created in the wake of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis to promote innovative, policy relevant economic research. Our mission To develop new economic knowledge that fundamentally advances a scientific understanding of the economy and contributes insights into addressing major economic and social challenges. If a visit is agreed you will be advised on the process of applying as a visitor through an appropriate Academic Department The Department will act as your host and deal with administrative & immigration issues whilst you will sit and work with INET Oxford, all co-ordinated by the INET Admin Team COVID-19 UPDATE: Please note that during the uncertainty of the current situation, our visitors programme will run virtually. A visitor will still need to be sponsored by an INET Director and go through an (altered) Departmental Visitor process. Virtual visitors will be asked to engage with our team via online platforms such as Teams or Zoom as well as via email. We ask that our academic visitors give a talk during their visit, this will be done via Zoom during the virtual visit.
