Type J. W. Gitt Papers , 1929-1977
Goods The J.W. Gitt Papers (Photocopies) and Other Materials, 1918-1977, contains materials highlighting the life, writings, and influence of J. W. Gitt (1884-1975), progressive journalist and foe of McCarthyism. The collection came into being in 1978 when Elizabeth Gitt placed the papers of her deceased husband, Josiah Gitt, on deposit at the Special Collections Library in 1978 for the purpose of photocopying. Photocopies were made and the originals were returned per agreement. Mary Hamilton, the Gitt scholar, donated her research and writings on Gitt the same year. These materials were combined to create the collection as it now stands.
