Skoltech and Massachusetts Institute of Technology have/had a hierarchical relationship

Initiative Skoltech
Host Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Start Date 2011-00-00
Notes The second phase of the collaboration between MIT and the Skolkovo Institute for Science and Technology (Skoltech) concluded as of February 28, 2019. The MIT Skoltech Program is currently not active. After the first phase of the collaboration between MIT, Skoltech, and the Skolkovo Foundation, which comprised a wide array of activities and led to the launch and early growth of Skoltech (phase 1 description and highlights), the second phase of the MIT-Skoltech relationship was oriented around a more focused set of collaborative activities to promote the continued development of Skoltech and the Skolkovo ecosystem. During this second phase, a great deal was accomplished. Highlights include: Close to 60 collaborative research projects were initiated, either as part of NextGenerationProgram (NGP) research projects or through MIT Skoltech Seed grants, to promote the continued development of Skoltech. While all seed grants have expired, some of the NGP projects will continue until the end of 2019. Together, MIT and Skoltech organized three joint annual conferences in Moscow. MIT faculty provided advice and support, via a faculty advisory committee and as individuals, on research and institutional matters. MIT enabled many interactions and visits in areas of research and institutional matters important to Skoltech. "We reflect with pride on Skoltech's achievements to date," says MIT Professor Bruce Tidor, faculty lead of the MIT Skoltech Program. "The support, commitment and engagement of more than 75 MIT faculty has been instrumental in the success of the MIT Skoltech collaboration."
