Monitoring and Evaluation
FMCI recognizes that Santee residents possess limitless assets and resources to be leveraged for the common good and used for an asset-based approach. This commitment includes robust community input and constant dialogue with stakeholders, which informs FMCI’s program design and partnerships.
To measure the impact of its work, FMCI prioritizes the collection of comprehensive, reliable data about clients served. Due to the collaborative, partnership-based nature of the FMCI model, client information is housed in multiple places. Current data sources include Franklin-McKinley School District, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, FIRST 5 of Santa Clara County, the Santa Clara County Office of Education, and other individual service providers.
FMCI is using this process to determine how to answer the question, “How can we capture the necessary information to determine whether or not our programs in aggregate make a difference for students?”
Data Collection
FMCI is currently participating in a pilot data collection and analysis program in partnership with the Santa Clara County Office of Education. The data warehouse initiative, DataZone, was designed as a safe and secure repository to collect data from multiple service providers within districts that want to combine forces and use tools and services at a greatly reduced cost. DataZone provides predictive analytics to spot trends and identify students requiring intervention, as well as generate dashboards and reports that get users to the important information that needs to be seen and understood quickly through data dashboards.
Work with DataZone will equip FMCI with the technological tools to accurately assess the efficiency and effectiveness of macro-level programming. Student-specific data will continue to be analyzed by individual service providers.
Monitoring and Evaluation Priorities
The following goals have been identified as key organizational priorities.
HUB Schools:
Children are ready to learn and thrive when they enter kindergarten
Families are welcomed and encouraged to be engaged and increasingly involved in their child’s education
Students are physically, socially and emotionally healthy
Safe and Strong Neighborhoods:
Community residents demonstrate agency and ownership of their school and neighborhood through activism and participation
Partners and CBO’s are committed to sharing resources and implementing services efficiently to provide developmental assets to youth
Economic Development:
Community members know where and how to access resources to improve their economic situation
Household self-sufficiency improves in access to food, housing, healthcare, education and income
