The goal of Big Picture's Proficiency Based Pathways (PBP) Initiative project is define a common set of profiencies and develop a "synthesis proficiency assessment system" (rubrics, procedures, etc.) that is fully aligned to Big Picture (BP)'s core learning strategies and enables teachers to assess proficiency across subject areas and for multidisciplinary projects and learning experiences in ways that are technically strong and logistically realistic. The PBP project enables Big Picture to collect disparate experience and expertise from across the BP schools network, synthesize, and enhance it to create a common proficiency-based assessment system which BP intends to scale nationally over the next 3-4 years. |
