Bob Lee, a tech executive and investor who was instrumental in creating the mobile payment service Cash App, was fatally stabbed on the street in San Francisco on Tuesday April 4 2023. He was 43. At the time of his death, Lee was the chief product officer of MobileCoin, a cryptocurrency start-up based in San Francisco - although he had recently moved to Miami. Before he joined MobileCoin in 2021, he was the chief technology officer of the payment company Square, which was renamed Block in 2021.. Before joining the mobile payment company in January 2010, he was previously a software engineer at Google. He created the Jolt award winning Guice framework. And he led the core library development on Android. In April 2008 Lee created Twubble, a service that helps you find friends in Twitter.
